Movendi originated in North America, more specifically in Utica, New York, USA and spread from there around the world. Today, the Movendi movement is represented through 10 Member Organizations in four countries of the Americas.

ACT Health Promotion is a non-governmental organization that acts in the promotion and defense of public health policies, especially in the areas of tobacco control, healthy eating, alcohol control and physical activity. This work is carried out through advocacy actions , which include political advocacy, communication, mobilization, networking and research, among others.

ACT was created in 2006 to act in the area of ​​tobacco control and, as of 2013, it expanded its scope of work to incorporate the defense of adequate and healthy eating, physical activity and alcohol control. Together, these four guidelines represent the main preventable risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which include cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, diabetes and cancer and are the leading cause of death in the world. ACT’s work also includes human rights and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The association Costa Rica Saludable is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, made up of an alliance of different social actors, non-governmental organisations and government allies, whose goal is to strengthen the action of civil society in the development of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Costa Rica, through education, awareness, research and promotion of effective policies.

We understand that the role of civil society is essential and urgent to counteract interests that hinder progress and improvements in the common well-being of Costa Ricans. The Healthy Costa Rica Association emerged in 2019, with the participation and commitment of a group of civil society professionals motivated by the desire to promote effective strategies that affect the triggering factors of NCDs in Costa Rica.

CLAS – Coalition for Americas’ Health

CLAS is a coalition that brings together more than 200 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in America with the purpose of preventing and controlling Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the region. These are heart and cerebrovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and mental disorders.

Founded in March 2011, its objective is to strengthen the action of Civil Society to prevent and control these diseases through political advocacy, education, awareness and research, at the national and regional level, so that effective policies are implemented, in line with the objectives of the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO) and its regional office, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the NCD Alliance.

Prevention First’s Alcohol Policy Resource Center provides training, education, resources, and tools on evidence-based alcohol policy strategies to municipalities, local officials, law enforcement, and community coalitions focused on underage drinking in communities throughout Illinois to make an impact both directly and indirectly with their programs and training.
