About HLPF
The United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is a platform for reviewing and following up on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It meets annually for eight days under the supervision of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This includes a three-day meeting for ministers and a five-day meeting for everyone else. Every four years, it also meets for two days at the level of Heads of State and Government. The HLPF 2023 will serve as a preliminary event to the SDG Submit 2023 scheduled for September 2023.
Theme of the HLPF
The theme for the meeting is “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”, and it will focus on reviewing SDGs 6, 7, 9, 11 and 17.
Program of the HLPF
- The following 40 presenters will carry out voluntary national reviews (VNRs) of their implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the forum: Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Canada, Central African Republic, Comoros, Chile, Croatia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, European Union, Fiji, France, Guyana, Iceland, Ireland, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Mongolia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, St Kitts & Nevis , Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, United Republic of Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam, Zambia. - The HLPF 2023 will occur from July 10 to July 14, 2023. The ministerial segment, which lasts three days, will take place from July 17 to July 20, 2023, and is part of the high-level segment of the Council.
- The high-level segment of the Economic and Social Council will conclude on July 20, 2023. Additional activities such as Side Events, VNR Labs, Special Events, and Exhibition will be arranged alongside the 2023 HLPF.
