Every month, Movendi International invites all members for our regular best practice exchange and capacity building webinar. It’s an exclusive space for members to share, exchange, discuss, and learn about latest developments and best practices in key topics of our work.

This month’s webinar will focus on best practices and experiences in addressing alcohol as obstacle to development and how to reach development for all through alcohol prevention.

Alcohol is a major obstacle to sustainable development. Alcohol harm impedes progress to 14 of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Alcohol is an obstacle to social, environmental, and economic development. This also means that evidence-based alcohol policy solutions have huge potential to help drive progress across the SDGs, such as eradicating poverty, promoting gender equality, achieving quality education for all children, ensuring water, food, and biodiversity protection, improving health, safety, and equity in our societies.

This webinar provides space to discuss best practices of how Movendi International members are working to address alcohol as obstacle to the SDGs – in the policy space, through partnerships, through other programs, activities and interventions. And this webinar serves.

We will explore lessons learned and the obstacles we face in our efforts to increase recognition of alcohol as obstacle to the SDGs. We will also highlight promising initiatives that can be multiplied by Movendi International members. And we will discuss next steps at the global, national, and local levels.

Purpose

  • Empower Movendi International members to identify and address alcohol as obstacle to the SDGs.
  • Identify obstacles, challenges, lessons learned and the potential of addressing alcohol in other SDGs, beyond health.
  • Facilitate the exchange of ideas, strategies, and best practices among members to increase capacity for action.
