The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, under the theme Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights, comes at a pivotal moment to renew global commitment to multilateralism, solidarity, and shared action for people and planet. This year’s High-level Week will spotlight solutions and partnerships for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and tackling urgent global crises.

Background
Eighty years after its founding, the United Nations is marking its anniversary in the shadow of pressing, interconnected global challenges — from conflict and climate change to health crises and inequalities. High-level Week 2025 brings together Heads of State and Government, ministers, UN leaders, civil society, and youth to advance peace, sustainable development, and human rights.
Two central platforms will frame the week:
- SDG Media Zone (22–26 September): Dynamic interviews and panel discussions showcasing innovative solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Goals Lounge (20–26 September): Unscripted dialogues and interactive experiences hosted by the UN Office for Partnerships.
All sessions will be live-streamed via UN WebTV.

- 80th Anniversary of the United Nations (22 Sept) – Reflections on eight decades of multilateralism and visions for a more inclusive future.
- SDG Moment (22 Sept) – Showcasing transformative actions for the 2030 Agenda.
- 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women (22 Sept) – Renewed commitments to gender equality and empowerment.
- General Debate (23–27 and 29 Sept) – World leaders present priorities under the theme Better Together.
- Climate Summit (24 Sept) – Presentation of new national climate action plans ahead of COP30.
- Biennial UN–International Financial Institutions Summit (24 Sept) – Strengthening cooperation to reform global financial architecture.
