The Second International Workshop on Drug Demand Reduction held together with the 4th International Congress of Freemind to network with others from the field in South America, and attend a training workshop.

ISSUP holds an annual event, bringing together members and non-members from the field of substance use prevention and treatment. The first ISSUP event was held in Bangkok, Thailand in July 2015, where ISSUP was launched.

Program summary

7th December: Registration and opening ceremony during the evening

7th December onwards: Ten concurrent Training workshops ranging from 3-5 days each

11th December: ICCE Credential Exam (to be confirmed)

Side meetings (to be confirmed)

  • Policy makers working in the field of substance use prevention and treatment in Brazil and South America

What are the aims of the event?

  1. Create a platform for knowledge dissemination through scientific presentations, plenary discussions and training programmes.
  2. The promotion of evidence based practices for the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders.
  3. Enhance the networking of professionals working in the field of drug demand reduction through an International Society.

What is ISSUP?

The International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP) is a global, not for profit, non-government organisation to support the development of a professional prevention and treatment workforce and to serve as a focal point for information about substance use prevention and treatment.

ISSUP’s contribution is informed by science and research, promoting evidence based, high quality and ethical approaches and practice to substance use prevention and treatment. It does this through this unique website, providing access to up to date information and support for the substance use prevention and treatment community. The website, along with an annual international meeting also offers training and networking opportunities as well as resources that support the professionalisation of the workforce.
