Mike Yanou, Mike Yanou Foundation (MYF) is a non-profit organisation focused on engaging, empowering and equipping boys to become effective fathers and father figures, with the vision of creating prosperous communities with functional families. MYF aims to tackle the root problem of gender-based violence perpetuated by men with dysfunctional adolescence.
MYF’s approach is developmental, with a focus on school outreach and community focal points. MYF plans to establish BoysEngage Clubs in schools and communities to curb the challenges posed of dysfunctional boys and absence of fatherly figures in the society.
Through these channels, MYF addresses various problems caused by the absence of fathers and fatherly figures which includes amongst others:
- Drug and Alcohol Abuse – Psychosocial Support, Safe Space, Sensitisation
- Mental Health – Psychosocial Support, Safe Space, Sensitisation
- Domestic Violence – Psychosocial Support, Safe Space, Sensitisation/Awareness
- Financial Struggles – Trainings, Career Orientation and Mentorship, Economic Inclusion, Micro Loans.
