The World Health Organisation has released an interesting animation reviewing what happened in 2015 in global health.

It starts with the urgent task to prevent 16 million premature deaths every year – caused by Noncommunicable diseases, where alcohol use is a major risk factor. It also highlights World No Tobacco Day and the need to stop the illegal trade of tobacco products. We also learn that 400 million people are missing out on essential health services.

In September, the new Agenda 2030 with 17 Sustainable Development Goals was adopted, including SDG3 on health and well being. SDG3 addresses alcohol, too. Another topic of renewed importance was road traffic accidents and fatalities. 12 months are offering 37 highlights of the year in global health.
