As 2025 comes to a close, Movendi International reflects with gratitude on a year of progress driven by people-centred values, scientific evidence, and collective action. At the same time, the year exposed the scale of alcohol industry interference that continues to derail, delay and dilute life-saving alcohol policy solutions.
Looking ahead to 2026, Movendi is scaling-up spaces for connection, accountability, and action – kicking off 2026 with four webinars in January and culminating in the World Congress that will bring the global movement together to accelerate change.

Thank You for 2025 and Building Momentum for 2026

As 2025 comes to a close, we want to pause to thank you – our members, partners, advocates, and allies – for your commitment to protecting people, communities, and future generations from alcohol harm and to make development a reality for all.

This year has showed us an inspiring lesson: progress on alcohol policy is possible when people-centred values, scientific evidence, and collective action come together. At the same time, 2025 has also made visible the scale and severity of alcohol industry interference that continues to dilute, delay, and derail life-saving alcohol policy progress.

We enter 2026 grounded in gratitude and heart-driven commitment to advance high-impact alcohol policy solutions at all levels together with people affected by the harms caused by alcohol companies, our members, and partners.

Starting 2026 Together: January 2026 Movendi Events

Kicking off the year with shared purpose and strategic focus

January marks the first chapter of Movendi’s 2026 advocacy work, with a set of complementary spaces designed to elevate learning, coordination, and collective impact across the movement.

  • January 9, 2026 at 3PM CET: Alcohol Policy News Talk (APNT)
  • January 14, 2026 at 3PM CET: Alcohol Policy Advocacy Platform (APAP) – Session #1 of 2026
  • January 19, 2026, at 9AM and 3PM CET: Members’ Webinar: Shaping Movendi’s Work in 2026
  • January 21, 2026, at 3PM: Public Launch Event: Big Alcohol Exposed Report 2025

These spaces reflect a core principle of our work: strong alcohol policy is built through informed, connected, and empowered civil society.

What We built Together in 2025: A Resource Center For Action

Evidence, analysis, and tools to drive real-world alcohol policy progress

In 2025, Movendi International significantly expanded our global Alcohol Issues Resource Center to increase access to independent evidence, policy analysis, and advocacy intelligence for civil society, decision-makers, and allies worldwide.

Over the year, we published more than 250 Resource Center articles, including:

  • 50+ Science Digests making latest independent research on alcohol harm and policy effectiveness more available for advocacy action.
  • 100+ Policy Updates tracking alcohol policy developments, debates, and decisions across regions and countries around the world.
  • 100+ News Stories documenting progress, setbacks, and accountability moments in global alcohol policy.
  • Among those 250 articles in the past year, are 60+ #BigAlcoholExposed investigations as Policy Updates, Science Digests, News Stories, and Opinion columns – uncovering Big Alcohol’s predatory practices, front groups interference, lobbying tactics, and misinformation.
  • 11 episodes of the Alcohol Issues Podcast, amplifying expert voices and movement perspectives, and
  • 13 opinion columns shaping public discourse with values-based, evidence-informed arguments, timely analysis and success stories.

These resources are designed to equip community, civil society, and government leaders with what they need to advance people-centred, interference-free alcohol policy and to counter corporate narratives that seek to derail, delay or dilute action.

Thank You for 2025 and Looking Ahead to 2026

None of this work happens in isolation. It is powered by the trust, expertise, courage, and persistence of people and organisations around the world who put people’s well-being over corporate profit.

Thank you for your collaboration, your solidarity, and your belief that alcohol policy is a matter of rights fairness, and justice.

Looking ahead, October 2026 will be a defining moment: Movendi International’s 71st World Congress will bring the global movement together to strengthen strategy, deepen cooperation, and accelerate change at a time when leadership on alcohol policy is urgently needed.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you – toward 2026 and beyond.

With appreciation and gratitude,

Kristína Šperková
