Safety 2016 ─ the 12th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion

From Research to Implementation

Injuries – violence and unintentional – are a major burden on public health worldwide. While experts in injury prevention and safety promotion recognize the need for action, the state-of-the-art knowledge and practice from these fields are not consistently applied to policies and programmes in the field. The main theme for the Safety 2016, “From research to implementation”, seeks to provoke new ideas and experiences to address this gap.

About the Conference

The World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion is the 12th biennial, international conference on injury prevention and safety promotion. The conference will bring together the world’s leading researchers, practitioners, policy-makers and advocates in the field of injury prevention and safety to debate, discuss and share information and experiences.

Safety 2016 is proudly hosted by the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and several partners and colleagues from Finland, Europe and the international community.  The conference is co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The previous conference was held in Wellington, New Zealand, in 2012.
