The International Board oversees the strategic development of Movendi International’s work towards a world of peace, democracy and justice where free and healthy citizens actively contribute in all levels of society.
The work of the International Board is driven by three core values:
- Honesty and humility,
- Competence and efficacy, and
- Leadership by good example.
Elected at the 70th Session of the Movendi International World Congress held virtually in September 2022, the mandate period of the International Board period is 2022 to 2026.
International President
Kristína Šperková has a master’s degree in psychology from Comenius University in Slovakia.
She has been active in the field of substance use prevention within civil society for 20 years starting in a peer program in her hometown community. Later on Kristina engaged in prevention work on European level and served as a Secretary-General of the European Youth Organization, Active – sobriety, friendship and peace. She worked both with capacity building of youth organizations active in the prevention field in Europe and with youth and alcohol policy advocacy on EU level.
From 2012 onwards, Kristina worked for the Swedish NGO, the IOGT-NTO Movement that conducts development aid work with partner NGOs in Southeast Asia, East Africa, and the Balkans. She worked as a Programme manager, Strategic coordinator and subsequently as Junior Advisor with questions relating to alcohol as obstacle to development.
Kristina has been member of the International Board of Movendi International since 2006, first as International Vice President and since October 2014 as International President.
International Vice President
Pubudu Sumanasekara is currently working as the Executive Director of the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) Sri Lanka, which is an internationally recognized resource center for alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention interventions and policies.
Pubudu holds a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion from studies in Canada as well as a degree in Psychiatric and Medical Social Work in India.
Pubudu is a visiting lecturer at the University of Colombo and University of Rajarata in Sri Lanka.
Pubudu is a member of the expert committee of the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA), the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention and the Drug Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka.
Pubudu has conducted many drug prevention workshops locally and internationally. He has worked for UNODC as a volunteer specialist. The development of audio-visual and printed materials is another field of expertise and many of them were published and telecasted. He has appeared in many TV and Radio discussions on alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues. He has 25 years worth of experience in the field of policy advocacy, community interventions and campaign designing in alcohol and other drug prevention.
This is the third term for Pubudu to serve as the International Vice President of Movendi International.
International Treasurer
Adis Arnautović is professional youth worker with a degree from Jönköping college in Sweden.
He has been active in the field of youth activism and alcohol prevention programs among youth in the Balkan region for over 20 years, working on different programs with various target groups such as women, underage delinquency, refugees, government institutions and media.
Until 2004, Adis has been involved in the Swedish NGO Proni Institute for social education, working on conflict resolution in post-war Balkans.
From 2004 to 2010 he worked in Forum Syd Balkans on youth networking and development of civil society organizations.
Ever since then, Adis is working with the Center for Youth Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, working directly on prevention programs tackling alcohol harm, as well as advocacy for the development of the first alcohol control act in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Adis serves as a member of the Movendi International Board since 2014. It is his first term as International Treasurer.
Board Member – Africa
Juliet Namukasa is the Chairperson of Uganda Alcohol Policy Alliance (UAPA).
Juliet works as Country Director for International Aid Services Uganda (IAS Uganda). Sha has been in this position for more than 20 years giving her a wealth of experience in development and humanitarian work.
Juliet is very passionate about community transformation. She has over tens years worth of experience in addressing alcohol as an obstacle to development.
Juliet is a practicing Christian with more that 30 years of leading youth ministry in her local church.
Currently Juliet conducts alcohol prevention outreach work in schools.
This is the first term as member of the International Board of Movendi International for Juliet. She represents the African region in the International Board.
Board Member – Africa
Labram Musah Massawudu holds a Higher National Diploma in Marketing from the Accra Technical University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Professional Studies and an MBA in Project Management from the Wisconsin International University College.
Labram is currently the Executive Director of Programs of the Vision for Alternative Development (VALD-Ghana), the leading organization advocating for stringent tobacco control and alcohol policy as well as road safety and climate change measures in Ghana. He doubles as the National Coordinator of the Ghana NCD Alliance.
Labram’s advocacy work was instrumental in the development process leading to the adoption of the National Alcohol Policy in 2016.
Labram has authored and co-authored several publications, such as the Ghana Tobacco Industry Interference Index in 2020 and 2021, the Situational Analysis on the Status of NCDs within the context of UHC in Ghana, the Ghana Advocacy Agenda for People Living with NCDs in 2018, the civil society shadow report on the implementation of the WHO-FCTC in Ghana in 2010 and the Ghana Tobacco Industry Mapping/Monitoring report for Ghana in 2006-2012. He supervised the study report titled: “Alcohol use in Ghana, a situational Analysis”; and the “Economics of Tobacco Control in Ghana”.
This is the first term as member of the International Board of Movendi International for Labram. He represents the African region in the International Board.
Board Member – Asia
Diana Vincent is the Director of Fourth Wave Foundation. She is a social scientist known for her contributions in the development sector working on various child rights, safety and protection issues. She is an avid researcher who has co-authored several articles in journals and presented papers at international forums.
Her significant projects document insights into the different ways communities, individuals, groups, and institutions make decisions, exercise power, and respond to change. Her work is testimonial, that change is possible through, planned effective delivery, impactful messaging and harnessing broad community support.
Over the past 15 years Diana has represented her work at international organisations like UNESCO, UNODC, and others.
Diana has a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Advanced Management Program in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Swedish Institute, Stockholm.
This is the first term as member of the International Board of Movendi International for Diana. She represents the Asian region in the International Board.
Board Member – Asia
Theera Watcharapranee is manager of StopDrink Network (SDN), Thailand, since 2005.
His background is in accounting for private sector companies but he decided to change career after he graduated with a master’s degree of Technology of Environmental Management of Mahidol University.
Theera’s experiences focus on building a social movement and civil society empowerment. He successfully set up SDN members in every provinces across Thailand.
Theera’s work advanced the social campaign and public policy advocacy to change the social norm and reduce the harm due to alcohol by working with policy makers and academic researchers under the Triangle that Moves the Mountain Theory.
Theera has been a member of the International Board for one mandate period between 2014 to 2018, and served as observer from 2020 to 2022. This is Theera’s second term in the Movendi International Board. He represents the Asian region in the International Board.
Board Member – Europe
Sanela Talić is the Head of Prevention Programmes at the Institute “Utrip” (UTRIP). She has been active in the field of addiction prevention, health promotion and healthy lifestyles, social and emotional learning (SEL), violence and injury prevention for more than ten years.
Sanela is also a researcher and PhD candidate in Prevention Science at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is a Master trainer for several evidence-based prevention programmes.
Sanela is a co-author and co-developer of the European Universal Prevention Curriculum (EUPC) published in 2019 and a contributor to the UNODC/WHO International Standards in the field of Substance Use Prevention (second updated edition in 2018).
Sanela has been awarded with ISSUP Early Career Award. In 2020, the Society for Prevention Research (SPR) has awarded her and her husband Matej Košir with »International Collaborative Prevention Research Award«.
This is the first term as member of the International Board of Movendi International for Sanela. She represents the European region in the International Board.
Board Member – Americas
Carlton Hall is the Founder and CEO of Carlton Hall Consulting LLC (CHC), a multi-faceted, full-service consulting firm designed to provide customized solutions and enable measurable change for communities, organizations, families and individuals.
Carlton has been providing intensive substance use prevention focused and community problem solving services all across the United States for the last 25 years. His responsibilities, unique set of skills and experience have made him one of the most highly sought after instructors and guides for community problem solving in every state and territory in the nation as well as internationally, with successful partnerships with Drug Free America Foundation, World Federation Against Drugs and the Columbo Plan, and others with achievements in South Africa, Uganda, Bermuda, Kenya and others.
Carlton serves on several boards of directors including the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children(NA-DEC).
