  1. Review of global events and assignments since the Sixth Task Force Meeting.
  2. The Sustainable Development Agenda: Implications of ECOSOC Resolution E/2016/L.16 for the Task Force’s scope of work.
  3. Global Joint Programmes and Thematic Groups:
    1. progress, updates and next steps.
  4. Updates on current work streams.
  5. Country and regional action. To include:
    1. (i) joint programming missions;
    2. (ii) UNCTs and NCD thematic groups;
    3. (iii) reports from the regions;
    4. (iv) World Bank loans; and
    5. (v) sectoral briefs.
  6. Resource mobilisation. To include: financing, communication strategy and potential ambassadors, envoys and SDG advocates.
  7. Progress on 2016-2017 work plan and plans for reporting on progress during 2016.

What is the UN Interagency Task Force

The United Nations Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) on the Prevention and Control of NCDs coordinates the activities of relevant UN organizations and other inter-governmental organizations to support governments to meet high-level commitments to respond to NCD epidemics worldwide.

The commitments were made by Heads of State and Government in the 2011 Political Declaration on NCDs, and implementation is through the WHO Global NCD Action Plan 2013–2020. The Task Force was established by the UN Secretary-General in June 2013 and placed under WHO’s leadership. Its terms of reference were adopted by ECOSOC in July 2014.
