Armenia’s National Assembly approved the first reading of a bill that seeks to make amendments to the Excise Tax in the country. Armenia’s government had submitted the bill to parliament that proposes increasing the Excise Tax on cigarettes and alcohol by 10%.

It is anticipated that this increase will add an additional US $19 million to the 2016 budget of the Armenian government.

The second reading of the bill will take place during the autumn session of the National Assembly.
