Ukraine: Alcohol Bottom Price Proposed

The Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine has proposed bottom wholesale and retail prices for high volume alcohol products.

The proposal to introduce a minimum price would comprise the following alcohol types:

  • Vodka and liquors by 10.7%,
  • Whiskey, rum and gin by 7.3%,
  • Cognac by 9.1-9.5%, and
  • Wine by 7.4-10.2%.

This change appears to be much in favor of the interests of the alcohol industry, not public health.
