The side event will provide state-of-the-art knowledge and understanding about the global burden of alcohol harm, es- pecially considering the epidemics of TB and NCDs - which are high on the political agenda.

Secondly, we will outlineco-benefits of addressing alcohol as cross-cutting risk factor, for example in promoting health for all and achieving universalhealth coverage.

Thirdly, this side event will serve to present inspiring stories of concrete solutions being implemented both by countries and civil society. And last but not least, this side event will discuss ways forward in 2018 and beyond to reduce the global burden and help achieve other overarching goals, like ending TB, beating NCDs, mobilizing a commitment to UHC and achieving health for all and reaching the SDGs...
