About the Event

The webinar launches the technical manual on alcohol tax policy and administration of the World Health Organization. This event will also unveil a new global database and analytical reports on alcohol and sugar-sweetened beverage taxes. The main host is the World Health Organization (WHO).

Resources/ Materials of the Event

The manual is designed as a practical guide and a call to action for policymakers involved in alcohol tax policies appropriate to unique market structure, tax administration capacity, and political economy. It has evidence-based summaries and case studies on alcohol tax practices worldwide.

Database and analytical reports, compiled by the WHO Fiscal Policies for Health unit using data collected in 2022, offer insights into prices, taxes, and tax administration measures related to alcohol and sugar-sweetened beverages globally.

Speakers

The webinar will feature speakers from WHO Member States, the World Bank, IMF, UNDP, NGOs, and academia.

Movendi International President Kristina Sperkova will among the speakers, sharing experiences, expertise, and perspectives from civil society advocacy for alcohol taxation.
