SEVENTY-SECOND SESSION OF THE WHO REGIONAL COMMITTEE FOR WESTERN PACIFIC

The Regional Committee for the Western Pacific is WHO’s governing body in the Region. It is comprised of representatives from the Region’s 37 Member States and areas, as well as Associate Members. The Regional Committee meets every year to formulate policies, provide oversight for regional programmes, hear progress reports, and consider, revise and endorse new initiatives. It adopts resolutions and makes decisions that guide the work of the Regional Office and country offices for the coming year.

Concept

The Regional Committee is the highest WHO governing body in the Western Pacific Region. It is comprised of ministers of health and senior officials of member states.

Delegates convene this year for formal and informal discussions and agreements on health matters of importance across the region including the COVID-19 pandemic.
