What are Sober Vibes? To me Sober Vibes mean connection.
Connection to the moment. Connection to the people I am with. Connection to myself.
When being alcohol-free, I give myself the chance to experience the present moment fully. Experiencing the present moment can sound rather passive. Like if I was only receiving. But being alcohol-free, I am actively processing the present experience. And I can shape it.
Sober Vibes mean a connection inward and outward.”

Connection to the moment
When being sober, I can connect to the moment. I am perceiving colors, sounds, and shapes around me. Often, there is some beauty in the details we are surrounded by every day but have no time to pay attention to.
Also, when I connect to the moment, I give myself the chance to identify what in my surrounding does not make me feel good. Maybe it’s just a detail. Maybe it’s a painting I have had for ages or a plant or the color of the walls. Something that has been part of my everyday life, but I had no time to realize that it does not make me feel balanced. When I am present, I can recognize it and change it.
Connection to people
When being sober, I can connect to the people I am spending time with. I give myself the chance to sense how I feel with these people. And I can give myself the chance to find out how they feel with me. Being alcohol-free, I am taking my time and stay with the feeling, and I can process it easier. I can feel my insecurities and just admit them. I can feel that I appreciate someone or that I feel entertained or intimidated. All these insights can only help me, even if they are unpleasant or not what I wish them to be. When I have these insights, I can do something about them. I can leave (nothing wrong about that). I can ask myself why I have that feeling. I can tell the person. I can focus on the person and their story and learn through someone else’s life and feel enriched.
Connection to yourself
When being sober, I can connect to myself. I give myself the chance to feel what is going on in me and do something to understand it. I might feel tired. I might feel alert. I might feel worried. I might feel excited. I might feel doubtful. I might feel determined. I might feel scared. I might feel happy. I might feel vulnerable. I might feel unstoppable. The main point is that I feel. And that I accept it and that I can act upon it. When I feel tired, I can take a break. When I feel determined I can pursue my goal. When I feel worried, I can share with someone. When I feel excited, I can express it through a concrete action.
Sobriety is a superpower
Sobriety does not necessarily make our lives better, but it gives us a chance to get better at life.”

Sober Vibes mean a connection inward and outward. Sober Vibes mean giving yourself a chance to experience being fully human. Sober Vibes is a superpower that all of us have. Because our superpower is human connection that helps us understand each other, our surrounding, and our place in it. And the connection can help us create, develop, and feel belonging.
Sobriety does not necessarily make our lives better, but it gives us a chance to get better at life.
On the this World Alcohol-Free Day, we are spreading Sober Vibes so more people can experience and enjoy their full potential.
