Description

The main focus this webinar exclusively for Movendi International members will be alcohol and women.
The products and practices of the alcohol industry are causing massive harm to women and girls. In fact, there are four dimensions of harm that we will discuss in this webinar:
  1. Alcohol violence against women,
  2. De-humanizing and sexualizing portrayal of women in alcohol marketing,
  3. Alcohol marketing targeting women, and
  4. Alcohol harm in women such as liver cirrhosis, breast cancer, mental health problems, including addiction.
And we will explore alcohol prevention solutions. Alcohol prevention is a catalyst for gender equality and women’s rights.
With regards to March 8, the upcoming International Women’s Day, we will talk about alcohol issues in women from various perspectives – such as alcohol use of women during the COVID-19 pandemic, alcohol industry targeting women, initiatives helping women reduce or quite their alcohol use.
The webinar will also provide space for discussions and brainstorming about joint action.
We have also invited our member organizations to present their work and this time it will be PADDI from Nigeria sharing their experience with advocating for evidence-based alcohol policy in Nigeria.
